Two and a half years went by between #5 and #6. I had my second baby, then pandemic hit and things got dark. I can’t remember what made me want to make another quilt. Actually, I had completely forgotten that I had ever quilted and it wasn’t until I was looking through my instagram accounts that I remembered this was something I used to enjoy. When it was done, I felt a little spark, like I was starting to defrost. It was something that I hadn’t felt in a while and I was/ am desperate to hold onto that feeling.
I was surprised at my color choice since I am usually more comfortable with neutrals but I liked playing with color combinations. I made the greens look like they intersected with a slightly darker green in the corner. When I look at my all my quilts together, this one does seem to fit in with my style. It feels like I’m learning what I like as I go but realizing I already know.
This was my first quilt made using my Brother SE1900. I bought it to learn how to machine embroider but I’ve been loving to sew with it. It’s a huge upgrade from the sewing machine I bought from Target a long time ago. I played and sewed a line of little hearts at the bottom of the quilt.
I learned that when quilting lines, you should always go in the same direction to avoid the chevron look. Oops
